The origins of The Rowe Group of Companies go back some 120 years and are founded on fruit and vegetable wholesaling, retailing and distribution. From modest beginnings, the business grew into one of the largest fruit and vegetable distributors in Europe. A direct consequence of the successful growth of the Company was the increase in its property interests.
Whilst the business was sold to Fyffes in the late 1980s, the Company retained its property interests. The Rowe Properties portfolio currently comprises approximately 60 commercial and mixed use properties located throughout Devon, Cornwall, Wales and the South East with the asset value of £30million. With efficient management of Rowe Properties being key to its success, the broad strategy for the company involves a principal investment with a two-fold objective:
a) To provide capital growth over the longer term, to maximise the development and reinvestment in the business, and
b) To provide sufficient income to support Group activities.
Rowe Estates’ strategic efforts over the next ten years are focussed on doubling the value of its asset base and placing it as the fore runner in the region. This will be achieved through a systematic approach to reinvestment and redevelopment across a wide spectrum of activity in high profile projects and acquisition. The restructure of the portfolio in line with the portfolio philosophy will involve an investment emphasis on Retail Warehousing, High Street Retail and Industrial property.
